Wikipedia defines Traffic Exchanges as:
“A traffic exchange website receives website submissions from webmasters that join traffic exchange networks. The person who submitted the website then has to browse other member sites on the exchange program to earn credits, which enable their sites to be viewed by other members through the surf system. This increases the number of visitors to all the sites involved.
Exchanges enforce a certain credit ratio, which illustrates the amount of websites the surfer must view in order to receive one hit through the program for their promoted website. Many sites offer the ability to upgrade one’s membership level for a more equal credit ratio.
As the viewers are all website owners or affiliates, it is possible that some might find certain member sites interesting and thus make note of them on their own sites, sending more traffic their way. Most traffic programs also impose a time limit when members are browsing, ranging from 10 seconds to 60 seconds. Some incorporate the use of captcha to ensure user interaction.
Almost all traffic exchange programs are free, although many of them offer special features to paid members and offer credits for purchase. Almost all traffic exchange programs encourage users to build their own referral networks, which in turn increases the referrers’ amount of credits.
The traffic generated in a traffic exchange can be leveraged by using a downline builder to assist the user in building a referral network in the many different traffic exchanges.
In practice, traffic exchange programs are generally used by small business owners or marketers who either want free advertising or use the exchange programs for low-budget advertisement campaigns.”
A Typical Example
Let’s go through a typical Traffic Exchange surfing session. For this example, we will only log into one Traffic Exchange that has an 8 second surf time. The surf ratio is 2:1. This means that you have to view 2 landing pages for every view of your landing page.
Almost all Traffic Exchanges have a Captcha box to ensure that you view the page for the allotted time. It would look like the example shone below.
You simply click the matching icon, and it then loads the next landing page for viewing. Just keep repeating the same process to accumulate credits. Using an 8 second view time, you can accumulate about 4 views of your landing page per minute. That is 240 views per hour.
There are literally thousands of Traffic Exchanges with millions of members who use this type of advertising exclusively. It serves two purposes.
- 1) You get your landing page viewed for free.
- 2) you get to experience the latest online marketing trends.
Traffic Exchange Surfing Using Free-Ad-Blaster
In your members area, on the right side of the page, are the different Ad Blasting features. The one we are discussing in this post is the Traffic Exchange Blast as shown in the example to the left.
When you click the “Traffic Exchange Blast“ button, you will be displayed a page as shown below. Each list contains 15 Traffic Exchanges.
I am making the assumption that you have joined the Traffic Exchanges in the list. If you have not, it is a great idea to do so. It only takes a few minutes per Traffic Exchange and all of them are free to join! You only need to do this once. I tend to use the same username and password for the Traffic Exchanges and use LastPass to save those values. It saves oodles of time when logging in.
Clicking the “Surf Selected List” button will load all 15 Traffic Exchanges in separate Tabs on your browser Instantly! You will have to log in to each Traffic Exchange before you can begin to surf. This should take about 2 minutes to log into all 15 exchanges. You do this once per surfing session.
Each Exchange has a “Surf” Button somewhere on their menus. You need to navigate to this point for each exchange. Again, this takes just a few seconds per exchange.
Lets assume that each exchange has a 2:1 surfing ratio and the surf time for each is about 10 seconds on avarage. The first tab begins its countdown timer and you need to click a Capcha image to load the next page for viewing. When you do this, DON’T WAIT! Click on the next browser tab. The countdown timer will have counted down and all you have to do is click the Capcha image for that browser tab. Again DON’T WAIT! move on to the next tab and click the capcha image. You should be able to click through all 15 tabs in about 30 seconds. Now cycle through to the first browser tab and repeat the process.
Lets do the math. You do about 60 page views a minute. That’s 30 credits per minute, or about 1800 credits per hour! That translates into 1800 page views per hour! Now that is surfing on steroids!
In my next post, I will show you how to use Rotators in conjunction with Traffic Exchanges to really take your ad promotions to the next level.
